Marian University is hosting its 21st Ethics Bowl this Saturday, November 2nd. Organized by the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE), the Ethics Bowl gives students a hands-on approach to engaging with major ethical challenges today. Topics at the Ethic Bowl can range from professional ethics, personal relations, social and political affairs within a range of professions, disciplines and aspects of daily life.
According to the APPE, the competition focuses on selected cases developed by APPE ethics faculty, researchers, and professionals. In the competitions students demonstrate their ability to
(1) understand the facts of the case,
(2) articulate the ethical principles involved in the case,
(3) present an effective argument on how the case should be resolved, and
(4) respond effectively to challenges put forth by the opposing team as well as the panel of expert judges.
SunHawk Consulting, LLC is committed to empowering professional and community-level engagement in key discussions regarding compliance and ethics, and as such is proud to contribute to this year's Central States Regional Ethics Bowl.
The judging rubric for regional Ethics Bowl events centers on the participating team's level of clarity, intelligibility, and deliberative thoughtfulness, as well as their level of success in identifying and discussing the central moral dimensions of the case in question.
